Seaborg's Comments

Dr. Seaborg visited President Johnson's Pedernales Ranch several times during Johnson's 5 year administration. On one of these occasions he and the President were driving around and saw that some of the quail had found their way out of the fenced in area. When the President saw this he sprang from the car and chased them back behind the fence. Dr. Seaborg says of the President's quail herding, "I told him I thought that was some of the most high priced quail chasing that I'd known of."
