Comments

This image is of the piece of lung seen in the previous image, but now seen with the scanning electron microscope. The sample is chemically fixed to keep it from collapsing and the sample is dried to protect the vacuum of the electron microscope. This microscope is much like a television and its images are primarily of the surface of the samples put inside the specimen chamber of the microscope.
